AS OF January 13th 2019, after 132 years, the San Mateo Fire Department ceased to exist. The new San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department (SMCFD) will provide fire service to the cities of San Mateo, Belmont and Foster City.
This website will remain open as an Archive of the historical information about the San Mateo Firefighters and the San Mateo Fire Department. You can view the San Mateo History book as well as a 15 minute video of the history of the SMFD circa 2007. There is more documentation and photographs through the menu on the left side of our home page.
